Germany | Founded in 1824
Durst Malz, born over 200 years ago from a brewery and malthouse, and nurtured by five generations of family stewardship, stands as a testament to German precision and brewing mastery.
Durst Malz’s premium malt is crafted from the finest barley varieties, carefully selected predominantly from the fertile soils of Southern and Western Germany and endorsed by the Berliner Programm.
Durst Malz was founded as a country brewery and malthouse in Heidelsheim near Bruchsal and converted into a commercial malthouse after approximately 60 years. After the Second World War, the former owners, Karl Fritz and Reiner Hiby-Durst, consistently expanded the family business.
The Rheinische Malzfabriken Union in Gernsheim, Rhein, was acquired and the two companies merged in 1992.
The Westdeutsche Mälzerei GmbH in Castrop-Rauxel also became part of the company.
Durst Malz is acquired by Soufflet Group.
InVivo Group acquires Malteries Soufflet which later merges with United Malt Group and Soufflet Malt is established.
Malted with the ancestral technique of slow malting, these base malts are renowned for authentic German-style Weissbier and Pilsner, complemented by an offering of nuanced specialty malts to fully unleash your creativity.
Durst Malz supports customers across multiple regions and production scales. Supply options include bagged and palletised malt and bulk deliveries which are supported by flexible logistics solutions.
